BEFORE STARTING YOUR HOME PROJECT….
1) Browse our Online Member Directory
You may find several people or companies to help you with your home needs. Simply search for what you need and contact anyone listed. Our directory includes home builders, plumbers, painters, bankers, and so much more!
You can feel comfortable knowing that we’ve already verified that all of our members are up-to-date on their business insurance and necessary licenses, if operating in the state of Wisconsin. All of our members also have to abide by a strict code of ethics. Behind each of our members is a state and national building association that ensures they receive the latest building information and education that’s available.
Questions while searching? Call us at (608) 781-5242.
2) Contact several companies for bids/estimates on your project.
We recommend contacting multiple different companies to provide cost estimates or “bids” on any home building, remodeling, or maintenance project. This allows you to compare costs and other important factors.
3) Verify that a company/person is licensed to work.
When working with any general contractor, plumber, or electrician, make sure that you ask them for their “license number” before moving forward. Then, go to the WI Public License Look-Up, search by “Credential/License Number”, then type in their license number. The company or individual’s name should show up. Click on their license to double-check that it’s not expired. If not found, give us a call and we can help!
4) Get local references from Google Reviews or past customers of a company.
As a customer, it’s important to do you due diligence by collecting reviews and experiences from real customers like you to ensure you are selecting the best person for the job! After doing this, you should be able to make a sound decision and get started on your home building, remodeling, or maintenance projects.
